These version 40.071 Amiga ROMs are the result of the work done by Olaf Barthel in 1997-1998 to understand, improve and document the Amiga OS build system previously maintained by Andy Finkel. As a result, all ROM and OS files for different Amiga models could be built from a common environment running on a single Amiga computer. In the process, some bugs were fixed and the SAS/C compiler used for some modules was updated to version 6.58.
The copyright notices were updated to reflect Gateway's Amiga, Inc. entity (i.e. the South Dakota company, pre-dating the Washington company with the same name).
The ROMs were tested and deployed in a limited release in the first half of 1998.
